Game schedules:
Team schedules will be made available approximately the 3rd week of practice. Most games are played on Saturdays. However, teams may play week night games.
Practices:
Practices will start August 2rd . Practices will be held at T.C Martin Elementary school 6315 Olivers Shop Rd, Bryantown. The first night of practice the entire organization will gather for a few minutes to discuss the upcoming season. Practices in the month of August are Monday thru Friday from 6PM to 8PM. First night of practice will be held in shorts, shirts and cleats. Your respective coaches will provide further guidance on wearing equipment later in the week. Players will be evaluated the first two weeks of practice to determine placement on a Senior or Junior team if there is more than 1 team in a weight division. However, not all weight divisions will have both Senior and Junior teams; it is dependent on the number of registered players.
Football Equipment:
What the Hurricanes issue each player:
-
Helmets. Our equipment managers will fit your child for a proper size helmet. If you wish to purchase your own helmet, please contact equipment manager, Kenny Doss.
-
Shoulder pads—shoulder pads are fitted by our equipment managers as well.
-
Basic mouth piece—we will provide 1 to each player.
-
Jersey – with your child’s last name
-
Game pants and game socks
Note—Players must return helmet, shoulder pads and games pants at the end of the season. Failure to do so will result in Hurricanes charging parents/guardians a replacement fee for each unreturned item.
Hurricane players are responsible to purchase:
-
Practice jerseys and Practice pants
-
Cleats (no metal spikes)
-
Athletic supporter—all players are required to wear an athletic supporter during contact drills, scrimmages and games.
-
Optional equipment—visors (clear only), extra mouth piece (colored and must be attached to helmet), arm/wrist bands, chest/rib protectors.
Weigh-ins:
It is required that every player weigh-in in the presence of a Charles County official—no exceptions. Weigh in date and time TBA.
Game day:
Please arrive with your child one hour prior to the start of your scheduled game. During this time, coaches warm-up teams and provide player cards for the opposing coach and county official. If a player is not present at the time the county official checks in the team then the child is not eligible to play in game.
All parents, players and coaches must sign personal conduct forms. We expect all concerned to act accordingly. If you cannot act in accordance with our policy, you will be asked to leave the game/practice/event area immediately.
Parent and player concerns:
If you have an issue that needs to be addressed, please attempt to speak with your coach first. If that is not an option or does not resolve the issue, please contact Scooty Getgen, Vice President of Football. Mr.Getgen will then take whatever necessary steps to address the issue. Please make every attempt to use this process if the need arises.
